So I have decided that a stationary bike is boring the hell out of me, resulting in a complete lack of motivation in doing my cardio.

What I have considered is getting a rowing machine for an overall body workout, at the gym I always enjoyed it much more than the bike so I am thinking of giving it a go. Being a full body workout I believe it would be more beneficial.

This is the rower I have found, http://www.concept2.com.au/products/indoorrowers/modeld.aspx

It's a bit pricey but it is one of the best you can buy. The lesser ones have a really low maximum body weight i.e rickity junk.

Anyone here have experience with adding rowing to their workout? Results?

Cheers.

I've never really used a rower for cardio, but when I have tried them I was impressed with how much it utilises your whole body rather than just your legs. If it's going to help motivate you then it can't be a bad thing.

if you find that boring, try walking on a treadmill for an our while staring at your garage wall...lol. I find having some hardcore workout music playing in my ears helps, as well as invisioning what I will look like after all this boring cardio!

I'm pretty sure that's the brand they have at my current gym.  I'm no rowing expert but it does the job well.  First rule of exercise - do whatever is most fun!

Yeah it is commercial grade, I was looking at some of the cheaper ones and they looked rubbish. I mean a 100kg max user weight? lol C'mon! Roll Eyes

So I just got my new rower, I decided against the Cocept 2 after trying this one out, it was a much better motion...

I haven't had a big workout with it yet, but it's definately alot more fun than stationary bike! Smiley

Good god, after nailing 15 minutes of intense rowing my legs were killing me at the top of my quads/hip flexors! This definatey is a better work out than just the lazy old stationary bike...

As a side note, I do not recommend doing any rowing after squats! ha
